Lim Tze Peng’s Solo Exhibition in London

At 103 years old, renowned Singaporean artist Lim Tze Peng will hold his first solo exhibition in the West from October 11 to 15 at the Saatchi Gallery in London. This exhibition, titled "From Lion City to London," features abstract paintings where calligraphy merges with color. Due to his advanced age, Lim's eldest son will represent him at the event.

Lim, who received the 2003 Singapore Cultural Medallion, has always focused on the art of lines in his work. His latest series further develops abstract art through calligraphy, aiming to convey a universal, abstract language.

An English catalog, "Lim Tze Peng: Narratives From The Heart," accompanies the exhibition. The exhibition runs until October 29 at Lim Tze Peng Art House, Singapore. Admission is free.

我国103岁书画家林子平首次在西方举办个展。在英国伦敦萨奇艺廊欣赏个展画作的公众惊讶于林子平如此高龄，还能创作出极富当代感的艺术作品。

我国103岁书画家林子平在英国伦敦萨奇艺廊（Saatchi Gallery）举行“从狮城到伦敦——林子平个展”，获得广泛好评。一些公众不敢相信艺术家的高龄，还能创作出那么有当代感的艺术作品。

个展开幕礼于伦敦时间10月12日晚上举行，新加坡驻英国最高专员林传权为开幕嘉宾。林传权说，林子平在如此高龄仍然继续艺术实验与创新，令人惊叹。

林子平个展于10月11日至15日，在伦敦StART艺术博览会举办。该艺博会今年庆祝十周年，每年租下切尔西国王大道的萨奇艺廊三层楼办展。今年有约30几家画廊展出200名艺术家作品，主打艺术新崛起市场的新晋艺术家，但也有成名艺术家。

StART艺博会联合创办人、副主席兰吉·穆鲁加森（Ranjit Murugason）是新加坡人。他致辞时提到，林子平作品1977年参展英国“皇家海外联盟展”，最初遭新加坡遴选委员拒绝，因为他的艺术既不是东方，也不是西方，重审后获颁“英联邦美术联展”特别奖。

兰吉说：“这些墙上的杰作仍然不是东方或西方的，而是新加坡的，是他（林子平）自己精心挑选的，他希望伦敦人民会喜欢。”

受访公众：在创作上没停下脚步

林子平主要展出由书法字形连在一起的抽象画约30幅，流畅苍劲的线条撑起斑斓的色彩世界。英国艺术工作者Linda Burgess受访时说，林子平的抽象艺术令她想起教堂的彩绘玻璃，常有黑色轮廓线条衬托出玻璃的斑斓色彩。

路过伦敦的新加坡人Elizabeth Blatt经过展厅，看到新加坡街景画面，才知道林子平展览。她说：“林子平是活着的传奇，我知道他画牛车水和都市景色，但这次展出全新系列，与以前有所不同。在创作上，他没停下脚步。我尊敬他。”

新加坡出生，嫁来伦敦多年的越南华裔Lilly Nguyen Warick说，萨奇艺廊在英国首屈一指，这是她第一次在这里看到新加坡艺术家的作品，感觉美妙。她喜欢林子平作品的形状与线条，传达的信息强大。

新加坡艺术咨询公司Premium Pages参展艺博会五年，曾展出韩国、泰国、新西兰等艺术家作品。创办人、艺术总监陈伟光说，新加坡艺术家应该更大胆地在艺博会办个展而非群展，今年他将林子平和摄影师陈炳和（Terence Tan）的作品带到伦敦，以个展方式更好地呈献作品。
